On Saturday August 24, 2024 personnel from Southern Manatee Fire Rescue (SMFR) conducted a smoke detector blitz in the Sugar Creek Mobile Home Parks.  Crews installed approximately 153 smoke detectors, provided safety literature on smoking, grilling, generator, and electrical devices.  Additionally, crews distributed “File of Life” which were provided by the Suncoast Professional Firefighters and Paramedics, IAFF Local 2546.  This “File” contains areas to record current medications, allergies, and other vital medical information that can save copious amounts of time in an emergency.  The “File” is clearly marked and is magnetic so it can be placed on the refrigerator for easy access to first responders.  Additional smoke detector blitzes are being planned as our seasonal residents return in the latter months of the year.
