Southern Manatee Fire Rescue Hazardous Materials Team and Sarasota County Fire Departments Hazardous Materials team practice how to quickly and effectively extinguish large flammable liquid fires using SMFR’s Foam trailer. The trailer is a specialized piece of equipment that can produce over 10,000 gallons of firefighting foam solution and is one of two foam trailers that the SMFR Haz Mat team has staged in Manatee County. These trailers are available for mutual aid responses and can be deployed in as little as two minutes from time of dispatch. Crews trained together to become familiar with the trailer’s operations, tactics and troubleshooting. Both teams strive to cooperate and share resources within the region and support each other during large scale hazardous materials incidents.
