At last week’s Manatee County Fire Chiefs Association annual awards meeting, our department personnel were recognized for their efforts during Tropical Storm Debbie, Hurricane Helene, and Hurricane Milton.  Not only did they assist in county but were also deployed to communities in Pinellas County.

We would also like to congratulate Captain Mike Bloski for receiving the Manatee County Officer of the Year Award.  The leadership that Mike exhibits has elevated the SMFR Hazmat Team from its infancy to being recognized at the national level. Mike’s subject matter expertise is sought after by departments throughout the County and State whether for training or mitigation of a scene. Additionally, Manatee County Emergency Management leans on him for all things Hazmat.  Captain Bloski is constantly seeking new technology to further the efforts and abilities of the team.  Mike’s dedication continues at the State level as he is an integral part of the Florida Incident Support Team and is the Vice Chairman of the Florida Hazardous Materials Association.

Great Job to all!!
